There is a new season of BBNaija and the demand for data and cable services has gone through the roof. The high demand has resulted in friends asking friends for help in getting data for the different networks. A research firm hired by satayareporters to look into this phenomenom concluded that the phrase that has the most positive effect on people is “sub for me na”. Eighty percent of female respondents told us using that phrase has a ninety percent success rate versus saying “can you sub for me?” One might ask what is the big difference? Plenty. Sub for me na, implies that the supplicant (the person asking for the subscription has confidence that the person being asked can deliver. The second phrase phrase “can you sub for me” shows that you dont have the confidence that the person to whom the question is directed can deliver. Our research also shows that using the former will almost likely get you what you are asking for, as long as it is within reason. Some other examples are “buy gala for me na”, “help me beg am na”, But if you say to someone ‘buy moto for me na” you woild most likely get a reply like “u dey mad?”.
